Q&A:

Before you join us for your epic surf trip, let us remind you how important Travel Insurance is, especially one that covers adventure activities like Surfing. Therefore, we highly recommend that you take out a short insurance policy that will allow you to feel secure both, in and out of the water. Here’s a Quote Generator that you can use to figure out how much you may need to spend for your surf trip with us.
Before you join us for your epic surf trip, let us remind you how important general health and fitness will be during your stay with us. Therefore, we highly recommend that you prepare yourself physically as well mentally to get right into it from Day 1. Surfing uses a lot of muscle groups that you may not fully be in touch with, and no matter how fit you are, sometimes, your body will be shocked by the kind of physical challenges surfing can pose. In general, the fitter you are the better you will be, but that not a thumb rule to feel overconfident about your surf skills. We recommend you take the time to read this article and follow this basic surf workout, which will not only help with your general fitness, but definitely get you closer to surfing better: How to prepare for surfing . If you have some questions, you can always chat to us about it.

The currency here is the Moroccan Dirham. Roughly: 1 Euro = 10Dirham. You can exchange at the airport, however, be sure to check that they will not charge you commission for this exchange transaction. In most cases, your Airport Pick Up is included in our All Inclusive Package, or you can add this service to your booking with us, and pay us in EUR/ USD/ Pounds etc. Currently, Taghazout has no ATMs. The nearest ATMs are in Aourir also known as Banan Village. You will also find plenty of ATMs and Money Changers in City of Agadir, where you can easily withdraw minimum of Dirhams 300 or Dirhams 500 depending on the ATM you use. You can withdraw from most ATMs if you have standard debit/credit cards such as Visa, Mastercard, etc. Normally, we pass through Agadir as well Banan Village on the way to Taghazout, so if you come with no local currency, we can stop by for you to withdraw some money. Credit cards are generally not accepted as a form of payment by most businesses in Taghazout, but if they do, there is normally a surcharge of 3-5% from the bank, so its advisable to either bring your local currency and exchange before you get to Taghazout, or stop by at ATMs in the neighbouring town.
You can use it if you have roaming. Otherwise, you can purchase a local simcard for about 20 Dirham at any shop.
We have Wifi 24/7 at the hostel and various restaurants in town have Wifi. We have also upgraded to Fibre Optic Internet with unlimited bandwidth and speed varying between 100 – 200MBPS.
We rent a range of long boards, short boards, mals, mini-mals, and foam-topped long boards for beginners. You are welcome to bring your own if you have as well. All types of boards can be used here as there are so many different reef, beach and point breaks.
Taghazout has many restaurants, surf shops, surfboard repair places, a pharmacy, a Laundromat, a butcher’s, various little mini-markets, and once a week a traditional market. There is also wireless access at some of the cafes and a bus to Agadir every half hour from 10am-8pm for only 8 Dirhams.
Yes, there are and you can buy anything from boardies, rashies, and bikinis to surfboards, equipment, towels, sandals, etc.
There’s surf all year round, but it really picks up over the winter months from Nov-Feb. The sun shines for 300 days on average in a year, so it’s sunny! The weather in summer is hot with temps averaging around 35 Celsius, but with some days going into the high 40’s. The water is also warmer, so a thin wetsuit is all you need or just a rashy and boardies. In winter, the average temp is around 20 Celsius, so still not cold. It gets chillier in the mornings and evenings and the water is decidedly colder, so a wetsuit is a must, unless you’re super hard-core
Yes, there are and you can buy anything from boardies, rashies, and bikinis to surfboards, equipment, towels, sandals, etc.
You’ll need mostly summer beach clothes such as shorts, t-shirts, singlets, bathing gear, sandals. Bring a pair of jeans and a jumper too for the evenings. A towel (we don’t supply these), passport, camera, hat, sunnies, suntan lotion. You’re sorted.

If you have booked the all-inclusive option, you will get a variety of cuisines through a changing menu, everyday. Start your day with a hearty breakfast including Cereals, Yoghurts, Juices, Shakes, Omelet, Tortilla, Pancakes, Crepes, Assorted Breads, Preserves, and even Cream Cheese!

For lunch you will get a Baguette with the filling of the day or a healthy Salad, prepared fresh, everyday. Along with that we offer you 1 Litre Mineral Water and fresh fruits to complement the lunch served to you at the beach.

After a hard day’s work at the beach, we pamper you with traditional Moroccan delights or continental dishes, depending on the day. We dine at our very own restaurant West Coast, where our in-house Chefs cook everything from scratch using fresh preservative free ingredients. A range of delicious dishes including Moroccan Tagine, Moroccan Pasta with Meatballs and/or Vegetable Sauce, Cous-Cous on Fridays, Pizzas and Burgers, each night the dinner is finger-licking good! Every Saturday night we have a BBQ as well.
For Vegetarians and Vegans,
we have a variety of options too, as well the same menu is prepared to suit your spefici culinary needs – just let us know at reception when you check-in!

Yes, we do. We can cater for Vegetarians, Vegans, Flexitarians, etc. Just let us know when you book.

Yes, we do, so be sure to ask us our reception in the morning. But you can always bring an extra one, especially for the beach.

Taghazout is a dry village, meaning that it does not sell alcohol. Our Surf House too is not permitted to sell alcohol. You can, however, buy alcohol at various places in Agadir and bring it to our hostel. It is not, however, allowed on the streets and you’re encouraged to be sensible about the amount you consume so as to not offend the locals in this tiny Muslim village. In most cases, we advise you to bring something from home or Duty Free, to get you through the first couple of days. In most cases, we encourage you to not drink too much, especially if you’re keen to surf good.
Please remember, if you are hungover or drunk, our Surf Coach reserves the right to refuse your surf lesson for the day – this is purely for your safety.

In the evenings, we are usually exhausted from a day of surfing, so spend our time chilling on our balcony, chatting, watching surf/comedy/whatever movies, playing cards or dice games and just relaxing. On Saturday night is the weekly
BBQ and on Friday or Saturday nights, we sometimes head into Agadir to party at the clubs and pubs in the city. In most cases, transport to/ from the city, entrance fees, drinks are not sponsored by our Pub Crawl, however, if we are able to give you a free ride, we will surely mention this to you. Generally, we car-pool and share collective taxis to visit the city centre on Pub Crawl nights, so we can avoid drink-driving.

If you’re surfed out, you can tan on the beach and take a camel or horse ride or shop in the local curio shops. You can go hiking in the surrounding areas to beautiful caves overlooking the bay. You can take a trip to the local souk market in Agadir or hang out at the Marina there. You can go to the traditional Hammam (bathhouse) and get a massage. You can rent scooters and cruise up the coast or go to Paradise Valley (40mins drive away) and swim in the rock pools up there. You can rent quad bikes and speed up and down the beach and into the hills. Most of all, this is a place to relax and
recuperate.

The voltage in Morocco is usually 220 V, and outlets will fit the two-prong Europlug. This is the plug used primary in Europe and many other countries with two round prongs. American and Canadian appliances, which are made to use with 110 V may be damaged if plugged into a 220V socket, even if you use an adaptor. If your appliance is “dual-voltage”, it should be fine (it’s designed for both 110 and 220 V). If not, you’ll need a power converter as well as an adaptor.

Foreign women can travel in Morocco without too much hassle. If you are travelling alone, don’t wear anything too revealing. You will get attention wherever you go, but it’s usually no more than comments and general interest. In Taghazout, it is respectful to the locals to cover up when not at the beach. This is not to say you need to be covered from head to toe, but just don’t traipse up and down the main street in only your bikini. If you’re coming or going through town, it’s best to wear a top and shorts. At the beach you can stay in a bikini all day if you like.
Medical facilities are good in Agadir but comprehensive health insurance and travel insurance is advisable. If you are unable to pay or are not insured you may be refused treatment. The village of Taghazout has a pharmacy run by a qualified pharmacist. We also have a small first aid kit for minor injuries. We can help you acquire the right insurance, so you can claim any of your medical expenses in case of injury during surf or general sickness. We can also help you get covered again damage to any surf equipment – just ask us.
